About Qibla Direction

What is Qibla?

Qibla is the direction Muslims face during prayer (salah). It points toward the Kaaba in Masjid al-Haram, Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Facing the Qibla is one of the requirements for valid prayer in Islam.

How Does This Compass Work?

This compass uses your device's GPS to determine your location, then calculates the direction to the Kaaba using the great-circle formula (shortest distance on Earth's surface). If your device supports a compass sensor, it will rotate in real-time following your device's orientation.

Why Is Qibla Direction Different in Every Place?

Because Earth is spherical, the shortest path to the Kaaba varies depending on your location. From Indonesia, the Qibla direction generally points northwest (around 291-295 degrees from north), not directly west.
